The best time of year for surfing Padang Padang is the dry season, which lasts from June to September. April, May, and October, which border the rainy season, also provide good waves and have the advantage of fewer surfers to share them with. Luckily for the beginners and those in search of smaller, calmer waves, there is another Padang Padang just up the beach, where a long, unbroken wave provides the perfect conditions for novice surfers and longboarders. Arguably Bali’s most celebrated surf spot, all levels of surfers love surfing Padang Padang as both Left and Right breaks are consistently awesome. Surfing Padang Padang is mostly famous due to Padang Padang Left, also known as the “Balinese Pipeline” due to its resemblance to Hawaii’s famous Pipeline. Left is also a reef break and recommended for pro and expert surfers.

It is especially risky during low tide due to the sharp coral reef and jagged rocks. So if you’re not a very experienced surfer be wary and seek out the advice of knowledgeable locals and surf instructors. Surfing Padang Padang Left means speed, tubes, and killer 10-foot (3-meter) waves. Beginners with a desire to experience surfing Padang Padang should try the beach break of Padang Padang Right. During high tide, the Right’s long, unbroken wave is perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers as well as those transitioning between the white water and unbroken waves. And you can always head over to Left to check out the action. The beach at Padang Padang is a beautiful sandy stretch situated only 3km (2 miles) north of the Uluwatu temple.
